Cutting Boards Made Outside of China (How to Find Genuine Alternatives and Spot Chinese-Made Big Brands)

Authentic domestic production: Founded in 1887, every genuine Boos Block cutting board and butcher block is still built in Effingham, Illinois. Authentic Wisconsin production with one imported footnote: Epicurean openly states boards are designed, manufactured, and packaged in Superior, Wisconsin from USA-made wood-fiber composite. NSF-certified, dishwasher-safe Kitchen, All-In-One, Gourmet, and Non-Slip series are US-built. The only China input is a small amount of silicone feet/corners and some nylon utensil heads — the cutting surface itself is not Chinese.

Authentic Vermont production: Second-generation family company since 1944. JK Adams states more than 50 pairs of hands touch each board, from local loggers and sawmills to the Dorset factory. American design trap: OXO is the New York Good Grips icon, now owned by Helen of Troy. Bakeware has some USA production, but the bestselling carving, utility, and prep cutting boards are polypropylene molded in China. Japanese and US retailer spec sheets list Country/Region China. The 'designed for American kitchens' story is real; the factory stamp is not.

EU Declaration of Compliance for Cut&Carve Plus states products 'were manufactured in the Peoples Republic of China (PROC) on behalf of Joseph Joseph Ltd'. California eco-bamboo trap: Totally Bamboo is a real Escondido, CA brand (Woman-owned, designed in USA, shipped from Texas). The origin story started with furniture scraps, but current boards are engineered Moso bamboo produced in Chinese plants. ClimatePartner product certificate 5J6I32 (active Aug 2026–Aug 2027) states: 'Manufactured in both Zhejiang and Fujian, China.' State-shaped souvenir boards are likewise made in China.
